The Basilica of Our Lady of Pontmain never fails to impress visitors arriving for the first time.

Dedicated in 1900, the church was built after the appearance of the Virgin on January 17, 1871.

Invited to supervise the work of the basilica in 1872, the Oblate Missionaries of Immaculate Mary settled in Pontmain, in a building which houses the Chapel of the Juniorate.

The windows of the chapel were made by glass master Gabriel Loire. The Byzantine Christ arched window, alongside many others, dazzle you once through the door.

Nearby, the Parc des Oblats has numerous trails where you can take a pleasant stroll along the river Futaie and discover lots of remarkable trees brought back by missionaries from their various trips.

The sanctuaire de Pontmain, near the Basilica, and walk in the footsteps of the Visionaries, those who witnessed the appearance—the parish church, the Grange, the column of the Apparition, and the Museum of the Visionaries..

Complete your visit with a tour of the, Centre for Contemporary Art, which houses temporary dedicated exhibitions three times per year. Sixteen Tourist Offices and “Sanctuaries” form the French Association of Shrine Towns.
